Wolfe Island Gardens
Explore sustainable farming practices and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Wolfe Island. We are committed to organic, regenerative, and sustainable agriculture.
Wolfe Island Gardens is a 1/2 acre market garden that is intensively managed using agroecological principles. Agroecology is a method of farming that prioritizes soil health and biodiversity, promotes farmer-to-farmer grassroots knowledge sharing, and advocates for a fair and just food system. We offer a multi-faceted program for anyone who is passionate about sustainable agriculture and food system transformation.
Our mission is to build capacity for small scale sustainable agriculture through education and advocacy and to work towards a more equitable, resilient and sustainable food system. We strive to provide life changing experiences for young people in a caring and inclusive setting.
Inspired by the three elements of agroecology – practice, science, and movement – our program offers a unique combination of hands-on experience and theoretical, classroom-based learning.
Students work in a wide variety of production systems as they participate in the day-to-day operation of our market garden as well as local placements, field trips and guest lectures, all of which provide a well-rounded understanding of what it means to farm in today’s world.
